My name is Tracey and my husband is Mark, we live in the West Midlands with our son Connor.
I have loved animals all my life as a child we had so many pets fish, rabbits, hamsters, cats, ducks, parrots you name it we had probably owned one at some point. It was a common thing for my Mum or Dad to come home with a dog they had found on the roads or an animal someone no longer wanted, i cannot remember a time when living at home we had less then 2 or 3 dogs at one time. I think this must be where my love of dogs started.
This site is mainly about our Leonbergers which are a fantastic breed that we love so much, but i have added a couple of pages for our other much loved dogs ( feels wrong to leave them out :0) ).
We came across Leonbergers by accident , a friend of ours helped out by taking in a rescue dog , he was huge so we searched the internet to find out what breed he was, it turned out he was an Anotolian shepherd dog, but whilst searching i came across the Leonberger a dog which looked like a lion ( i am a massive big cat lover ) i decided i needed to know more about these dogs , they were just so fantastic looking and i knew straight away that a Leo would be our next dog as long as it could fit in with our liver spot Dalmatian who was 12 & our rescue Golden Retriever we had had a little over a year , i really needed the Leonberger to be an easy going dog so i set about finding a breeder close to home so i could see the breed in the flesh & judge for myself.
We were so lucky ( it must have been fate ), i found a fantastic lady just 15 minutes from our house who allowed us to go and meet her pride of lions , thats exactly what they were like . We met Helen Browne and her lovely leonbergers and we were totally hooked.
I would like to say a huge thankyou to Helen ( Engelben Leonbergers ) for allowing us into her home to meet her Leo family , i remember knocking the door and i hearing this huge bark which actually shook the window, we were then met by the largest & most solid dog i think i have ever met, he was so gentle & cuddly i was amazed. Thankyou so much Helen for our beautifull Leonberger's Callie & Troy , also for just being around whenever i need help and advice xxx
Be warned Leonbergers are very addictive & one is never enough.. lol :0)
